Revolutionary, inwards and outwards
MOVA globes rotate without batteries thanks to a unique technology. Each globe is a fixed sphere that is a
inner globe in motion. The inner globe
contains a precise mechanism consisting of solar cells and magnets. The solar cells provide energy when light passes through them, while the magnet responds to the earth’s magnetic field.
The only globe to feature this technology
- Rotates thanks to ambient light
- Rotates independently of its base
- No batteries or charger required
Innovation in every component
to perform its rotation smoothly, the MOVA Globe integrates precision science technology.
Low brightness solar cell technology
The solar cells are located directly behind the globe’s graphics, where they are protected from view. Most of the ambient light is blocked by the elements. The solar cells are carefully designed to produce an efficient amount of energy even when the light source is compromised.
Counter-torque
The motion mechanism requires a source of counter-torque to support continuous rotation. Similar to the way the needle of a compass points to the magnetic north pole and stays there when you turn the compass, the MOVA Globe’s magnet reacts to the Earth’s magnetic field, with the interaction causing the magnet to remain immobile while the motion mechanism is set in motion. The interaction causes the magnet to remain immobile while the motion mechanism pivots and rotates the entire inner globe.
Motor design with extremely low friction
The design of the motion mechanism has friction that is at least an order of magnitude lower than current motors used in consumer devices. used in mass-market devices. This allows the mechanism to rotate in complete silence with extremely low power in the micro range. complete silence with extremely low power in the microwatt range (a microwatt is one millionth of a watt).
Technology for levitating liquids in micro-volumes
A thin, almost imperceptible layer of liquid is the key to the inner sphere’s ability to awaken in light, float freely and rotate continuously without ever touching the MOVA sphere. float freely and rotate continuously without ever touching the outer shell.
Fluid-assisted optical projection technology
The optical parameters of the micro-volume fluid and the distance between the two spheres are precisely designed to project the rotating graphics of the inner sphere onto the outer shell, creating the illusion of a single sphere rotating on the base and challenging the laws of physics. the illusion of a single globe rotating on the base and challenging the laws of physics. This also allows the MOVA Globe to spin on any surface (except those made of magnetisable metal such as iron).
